Principal's Message

Welcome to Canyon Early Learning Center (CELC).  Thank you for visiting our website. Here you will find information about our curriculum, philosophy, parent involvement, registration and more. 

 

CELC introduces children to traditional preschool activities; greeting circle, small group, music and movement, choice time, reading, meal time, and outside play.  The preschool environment is designed to stress the importance of play as a child's primary form of learning.  We believe that preschool students should learn while they are playing and play while they are learning. 

 

Our staff works in partnership with parents to create a nurturing environment where children learn to make choices, carry out their ideas and reflect on their learning with peers and adults.  We recognize that each child is unique and we work to build each child's strength. 

 

CELC has an Instructional focus on Literacy and Social-Emotional development, coupled with an emphasis on high Family Engagement. CELC has strong community partners that help deliver outcomes for the student's development. Monrovia Reads is a very involved Community Partner that supports the development of Language and Reasoning Skills. CELC engages families in a number of ways, including but not limited to; Parent Education nights, Family picnic night, open house and family work days provide opportunities for parents and families to come together to support the preschool.
