CELC introduces children to traditional preschool activities; greeting circle, small group, music and movement, choice time, reading, meal time, and outside play. The preschool environment stresses the importance of play as a child's primary form of learning. Monrovia Unified believes preschool students should learn while playing and play while they are learning.

Patty Treliving, an after-school program coordinator for Monrovia Unified School District, loved the children she cared for before she passed away in July of 2021. Students and staff from CELC and the Village Program held a memorial at Monroe Elementary to remember Patty and everything she did for the children in Monrovia Schools.
Everyone at the event created a rock trail with stones that had different messages of love for Patty and her family. MUSD is so thankful to have had a wonderful person like Patty as part of our staff. Thank you to everyone who showed up to the event to celebrate her.
